Kara Bjornstad is a dedicated education specialist that brings over a decade of experience and a well-rounded background in school processes and procedures, child development, behavioral disorders and disabilities, special education eligibility and continuum of services, as well as, the learning intricacies of children with special needs. As a former school psychologist, Kara has facilitated professional learning in multiple capacities and to various audiences at the school, district, and regional levels to support the understanding of behavior as communication. She has extensive expertise working with students with social/emotional/behavioral challenges from early intervention through high school and brings a passion for improving outcomes for all students. Currently, Kara works within Measurement Incorporated’s Evaluation and School Improvement Services division supporting the North Country Regional Partnership Center.

 

Expertise

  • Conduct comprehensive functional behavioral assessments to support the development of behavioral intervention plans.

  • Develop and progress monitor behavioral intervention plans while offering classroom teachers support and behavior management strategies.

  • Develop and provide training for educational staff on behavior interventions.

  • Facilitate implementation of school-wide positive behavior supports and interventions initiatives.

  • Facilitate data meetings in order to analyze data and provide teachers with grouping and intervention strategies.

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to support determination of special education eligibility
